The short answer
Make the museum the anchor, then leave time for the town. One well-paced day in Maranello is more useful than four rushed brand stops scattered across Motor Valley.

A town built around a working identity.
Maranello is a destination because Ferrari is here, but a visit works better when the factory is understood as a workplace and the town as a town. The municipal tourism site connects the museum, the Strada della Storia and the centre as parts of the same story.
The Piloti archive images include the historic factory frontage, civic car references and the prancing-horse sculpture. They give the day a scale beyond display halls. Leave room to walk between things; otherwise Maranello can become a sequence of car parks.
Start with one appointment.
Book the museum or panoramic tour first. Then put lunch and the town walk around the confirmed time. Our suggested order is museum, lunch, centre and the historic factory exterior, adjusted to the tour schedule and restaurant opening.
Do not add a second distant manufacturer just because it looks close on a regional map. Factory check-in, parking and a proper meal all take space in the day. If someone in the group is less interested in machinery, the town break is part of the visit rather than dead time.
Walk through Piazza della Libertà.
The town hall was inaugurated in 1938, and the square was previously named Piazza Roma. The municipal account places it within the town’s expansion in the 1930s. That context is worth knowing: Maranello’s civic story has its own timeline alongside Ferrari.
Use the square as a pause in the day. Choose a coffee, look at the buildings and agree what the group actually wants next. A short walk with a point of interest is more satisfying than circling in the car to collect photographs.
Keep the factory gate and the factory tour separate.
The historic entrance is an exterior stop. A museum ticket does not turn it into a public entrance to the production lines. Ferrari’s panoramic shuttle and its restricted factory visits have different access conditions; see the dedicated factory guide before buying.
For photographs, keep entrances and the pavement clear. Plan your parking first and approach on foot. This guide makes no promise of a safe stopping place beside the gate or a chance to watch testing at Fiorano.
Let the meal decide whether you stay.
Montana is in Fiorano Modenese, so treat it as a separate destination with its own reservation and opening pattern. A meal there can give the day a social centre, but an assumed walk-in lunch is a poor foundation for a tight schedule.
If you stay in Maranello, Hotel Domus offers a central option to investigate. Choose it for the fit of the location and confirm parking for your car. If the evening plan is mainly in Modena, compare the cost in transfers before choosing a base. The best base is the one that reduces friction in your actual itinerary.
